Move by sub-pixel values (floating point) along the x and y axes.

BYOND automatically rounds positional coordinates to whole numbers, which kills precision and accuracy for things moving slowly and/or along slightly off-axis angles over time, such as projectiles.

This is taken from my Absolute Positions library as a standalone module, because you may not need the entire library. See Pixel Positions for the other part.
