It seems to mess up for larger images as well. Though, it probably has more to do with a different bug.
"Due to the way BYOND sends maps to the client, atoms with pixel offsets could suddenly appear or disappear from the edges while walking around the map. This issue, which has been around since as long as BYOND has supported pixel offsets, has been fixed by always sending enough extra tiles in the direction of the pixel offsets."
