BYOND Version:475
Operating System:Windows XP Home
Web Browser:Firefox 3.5.11
Applies to:Dream Seeker
Status: Not a bug

This is not a bug. It may be an incorrect use of syntax or a limitation in the software. For further discussion on the matter, please consult the BYOND forums.
Descriptive Problem Summary:

By changing the extension of an MP3 to .mid, it will play without any problem. This is more of a Windows problem than a BYOND problem, as it is Windows playing it, and not Dream Seeker.

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:

Rename your MP3, and play it with BYOND.

Expected Results:

The MP3 won't play.

Actual Results:

It does.

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often?
Every time.
In other games?
Any game.
In other user accounts?
Yup.
On other computers?
I've only tested it on Windows XP Pro and Home, but they were completely different computers, besides the OS. Although, they both had Intel Inside.

When does the problem NOT occur?

Never.

Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)

Always occured.

Workarounds:

None.

This isn't a bug, just a loophole in the sound engine.
