Pretty much everything to do with programming, BYOND, my own projects and even my own competition have been thrown immediately (as of a little while ago) on the back-burner in response to changes happening at my work place.
Bossman, my boss, was re-offered his managerial contract to continue the whole being my manager thing. He declined it. With an open managers position for the taking, in the department I presently reign as second in charge over, I decided to take my working life to another level, concentrating on getting as much as humanly possible done in the time allotted (and often over that time). This has resulted in me coming home too tired to care about anything. And on the weekends, being so exhausted over the week, not wanting to do anything but relax.
So a couple of days ago I applied for the managers position (as I doubt many people outside the store managers and the department itself would know what's going on) in an attempt to get in quick and show my dedication and interest. (Really, if they give me the job, I'll have achieved my long-term career goals and reached as high in the ladder I care to go, in nine short months. I'll save the joke for what can happen if I apply myself later, when I get it.) The fortunate thing is, very few people in my store would be interested in a managers position, and less would be interested in such a position that deals primarily around fridges, freezers and an on-average 10 degree work area. Unfortunately, if they advertise outside the store (to other stores), I'm up against every willing-to-move perishables 2IC and manager in the country (that's not counting any managers/2ICs looking for a change, or other people who aren't there yet, but are quite qualified to be there). All probably with lots more experience and knowledge. I like my chances.
So that leaves me to apologise to my many BYONDCasual followers eagerly awaiting their glorious victory money and recognition. And to my team mates (still not sold on the design, myself), as that was supposed to be completed and operational at this point (with all the bells and whistles I've spoken of in private to them).
And you can expect this to continue happening in much of the remaining short term. If worst comes to worst and I find myself just unable judge the competition due to time restraints, stress and general laziness, I'll pass that baton to a mutual third party and they can name the winner. Either way, my apologies again for the delay.
Aside from that, not much has happened. Madman was running a $10.00 DVD sale on it's merchandise a little while ago, but by the time I got there to buy any new and interesting anime series, their server had already been overloaded and their website completely destroyed. So I missed that one unfortunately. Not that I've had much to go with recently.
I also had an opportunity to play Halo: Reach and not only play it, but play it online in a full server, on an internet connection that could handle it split screen. Long story short, I'm going to buy it, and find an internet connection in my country that's available to me capable of doing such a thing, and to splic with the costs (of buying an XBox 360, the game itself AND monthly internet bill payments). Halo has genuinely never been my thing, but I really enjoyed it for the bit I played it.
I think that covers me for the previous few weeks. Bye bye.
