Would be fantastic if BYOND could finaly get into the new age with a mobile friendly site..

With the technology availble ie bootstrap it's hardly a trivial thing to do.

TL:DR BYOND needs to get with the times..
You have just reminded me of a project I stopped awhile ago because mobile sites were still a mystery for me (without needing more than one style sheet).

But I agree.
+1
This would actually benefit the flash client a lot. Flash games playable on mobiles, if possible, would help BYOND a lot. This has my vote, though I hope they get some help with doing this if they decide to. It seems like it would be a lot of work.
If a bunch of random porn sites can do it, why not BYOND?

Porn sites usually have funds for these sort of things

Most of them don't charge $24/year to use.

The goods one are free, with optional packages of tokens you can tip to live cam models.

The ones I prefer are free with shops you can buy merch from. Shirts, hats, mags, ect.
Don't forget that porn sites also focus on adults who are at least 18 or older, and whom thus likely have jobs or some form of income. Sure, they probably get tons of underage viewers but that isn't their target audience. BYOND is the opposite, its target audience is people below that age so there are likely less people with income around to contribute in any way they can.

BYOND still has to work on how it earns income, that's been plainly stated multiple times, but I think a lot of the hold back there, and thus in finding workers for projects like a mobile site, comes from the low amount of users with money to easily spend in comparison to other websites.

BYOND's target audience is dependent on what part of BYOND you mean. To me, it doesn't seem like BYOND was ever meant for kids. Which brings into question the 'no cussing' rule for posting, because even when you sign up you have to agree you're over 13. So once you have that factored in, the targeted age group has to be somewhere 13+. And since it's highly unlikely anyone in the 13-16 age group is anywhere near decent enough to do anything development wise, and still unlikely anyone 17-19 can either(wait- I'm 18!). I'd have to say the development half of BYOND is targeted to people in the range of 20-40. The gaming half, like I said, has to be 13+ as the targeted demographic. So.. 13-40? 40 because you'd expect the developer to play at least their own work. 13 only because it doesn't have you agree to be older, so they HAVE to take into account for them.

If BYOND really was having issues with how it was earning money, half the users on BYOND would make a great marketing team compared to Tom and Lummox. Where has BYOND been advertising outside of the recently-done free advertisement they've applied and been approved for? What merchandise have they put out there? Where's their store for things? Cheap things, that people wouldn't care to purchase. Then there's the whole micro-transaction argument- which I don't see being a major issue, as people deal with it all the time-, but you already have a wallet feature on BYOND, why not use it? Put $5 in the wallet so you can use $2 on something else. I've explained this in the 'One Month Membership' post. Where is the updated subscription system for games that would bring in more money to BYOND as well? If BYOND is having financial issues, it's because of poor marketing and poor developmental standards when it comes to 'subscriptions'.

I know a handful of people that would buy a decent 'BYOND' shirt, esp. If it had a retro look. Hell, if I had the money, I might. I'd get more use out of a $24 BYOND shirt than a $24 year's membership. I know MANY developers, including myself, that would make great use of a market system rather than the current subscription system. You could offer different kinds of subscriptions with different kinds of rewards, and different one-time or multiple-purchase items that'd give benefits in-game. The you can add in a proc to simply check if the client holds that parameter.

ie:
client.CheckPassport("[passport_identifier]","[item_name]")
BYOND did have an online shop/store before. There were shirts, and cups, and mouse pads.
No one bought anything. I think AZA launched another BYOND store, but I'm not sure if Tom gets that profits from that.
I demand a BYOND tshirt
Bump
BYOND'metro', a project I never finished.
I do most of my web browsing on my phone. I think that's true for a lot of people. Right now I'm looking at the site like this...

Just food for thought.
