At time of this writing BYOND supports HTTP links for downloading in an installable fashion. There is currently a zip link which works as far as downloading is concerned.

I am requesting that anonymous, passwordless ftp links are supported. Just read only support and the basics needed to download via ftp.

It might be possible through http to implement such things like bandwidth throttling and connection limits, but the majority of FTP servers offer this out of the box. Filezilla FTP server is free and supports such things.
