make buttons like labels where you can have em be in any shape or form instead of boxes with backgrounds

You can make use of labels if you want, you can actually use 'em to function as buttons and give them a background image, which is not a box, while it would be slower (probably) and you'll have to rewrite client/Click() to react to it specifically you can avoid it looking like the default button after/while clicking and so forth.
