Definately a coincidence. the shape of the head of the two figures are different. Same with the rest of the proportions except for the total height and the width of the two.

Wow, what a find.
Two 32x32 icons look surprisingly alike - in the way that, they're both spread out in a way that uses as much of the icon area as possible, to make it look dynamic, and cool... like most icons should. In fact, there is no similarities between the two, other than that. The size of the head, eyes, upper body, and the length of the lower body, are all different proportions. | |
