These forums used to have a threaded view, a few years ago. Does that still exist?

Nope. That was all done away with in the major site update a couple of years ago in favor of a traditional forum layout.

While it may limit complex communication of less-direct points, it really does help keep things on topic. | |
I miss threaded view, but it's definitely worth losing to streamline the forum software.

GreaseMonkey script could do this right? I haven't played with it since it first came out ..

Not easily no, there's no easy way to track the threads, especially since most people don't always use 'reply to'.

Partially related - there were also useful links on the side of the page, instead of blank space. I got here from a bookmark, and it took me a while to notice there was a way out of the forums...
