I should probably figure out what I want to work on. I've got the core of what I want done. Combat skills and enemies. Right now I'm probably gonna push for permadeath, a standing shopkeep, and a boss slime. But beyond all that, everything seems to be expansions. I need to make the starting village (oy, that'll be rough). I need to make locations on the map (probably gonna have some kind of avalanche block off most of the map). I need to make more monsters. I'm striving for a PvE game, but I seem to be lacking the E. P can come later. I want to be a little wary before I start adding too many complex features (like farming) because the more complex a feature is, the more effort it takes to maintain it through updates. It's why I don't make interfaces first. Because as things move on, you might need to change the interface and quite frankly, I find making interfaces rather difficult. I can make the old fashioned interfaces with like a bunch of boxes that call verbs and whatnot. But it's hard to make a decent interface. Especially when you consider the art assets I have available.

I guess when I get a chance, I need to shimmy up some kind of draft for the village and its facilities. So far, what I'm thinking is:

HQ: Where you get missions and villagers can have secure meetings

You might ask why I added "secure" there. It's going to be the only building that can't be damaged. And it can only be entered by your village members.

Shop: Where you buy stuff. 2 desks, Equipment and consumables. Or several small stands. I dunno.

Training Area: YOU CANNOT LEVEL OFF OF THE DUMMIES (when complete). Though I will add a train verb to the dummies just so I can make tongue-in-cheek comments about the older games. The training area will be for testing skills (because I want combat to be the focus of this game).

Recycler: This is a pile of objects that go towards village resources.

Now for a key distinction I've recently added.

Funds and Resources
Funds are money. Everyone understands that. Originally it was going to be where funds controlled everything. But then I thought "what if a village devoted itself entirely to raising money through non-combat means?" I figured they'd just "buy out" other villages from fighting them or hire them as bodyguards. This I want. But I don't want the whole PvE part of the game to go neglected. So I'm adding a "Resources" part to the game. When I get around to upgrades (this will come when I switch to swapmaps) upgrades will require resources and funds. And I might split resources into 3-4 types so if you want to specialize you're not punished relative to the other villages. If you want to specialize in farming, be my guest. I don't want a farming specialist gaining perks of a foundry specialist.

To reiterate. I want you to fight the environment. I want you fighting monsters and other players. All other sources of income must be weaker so that they're worth putting a little bit of time into, but not so weak that they're not worth anything at all.

I'm gonna keep thinking, but I haven't played League of Legends in two weeks so I'm gonna play a game or two of that before working on permadeath.

And while I have your attention, if you want to play OGame with me, join me
