Does anyone know how to get the DreamDaemon running on NetBSD? I don't have access, nor the money, to a FreeBSD system, as much as I prefer it.

:(
This is probably a better topic for General. But anyway...

First, what platform are you running NetBSD on? If Intel, then you ought to be able to run the FreeBSD version of BYOND without too many problems. Or the Linux version in theory - although, I tried running the Linux version on my FreeBSD machine and it didn't quite work (something with the curses library). Which is the main reason the FreeBSD version exists now. ;-)

This document seems to suggest it can be done if you're running on Intel. If not, you're probably out of luck for now.

I don't speak for Dantom, but I'm under the impression that they plan to support a wide variety of UNIX platforms (but no gui client for now) once the big "public push" is made. I can probably help make a NetBSD/Intel version (and maybe PowerPC too) happen if they're interested when the time comes. So if the above doesn't work for you now, maybe it will happen soon.

Good luck!
