I've been looking for an editor that could crop and edit larger images. I think I've found a couple nice ones. They aren't as great as Corel PhotoPaint but, heh, it least they run on Win2000 and they don't take up 1Gb of disk space.

IconEdit Pro v6.02 (the website in the help file is no longer valid. I ran a search through Altavista to find this).

Icon Collector Graphics Editor (Version 4.10) from Great Owl Software.

I've been playing around with both of these, and IconEdit Pro seems to be the better of the two, though they both seem good. The main differences are minor (eg. IconEdit starts at 1,1 for editing, while the other starts at 0,0 which really screws up my math ).

To crop images, just copy a selected area and past it into a new file. IconEdit provides a meter so you can tell how large the selected image is. It also preserves the marked area so you can continue moving the selected around etc. The other one is a bit more barbaric but does the job.
