So, I've been trying to get BYOND on my Macbook Air for a really long time & I've heard about wine. So, I've decided to give it a try.
I've been following this tutorial linked here
http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/
& I've done all the steps necessary for the installation of wine and the game I want (Naruto GOA). I have downloaded the installer file, which would be the BYOND client, and I went to the directory it was in, in my terminal, and used "wine 506.1247_byond.exe" and it worked, and I installed it onto my computer. Now that I'm trying to run BYOND, I went to my Program files directory, and BYOND is there, along with "Common Files" and "Internet Explorer" (for some reason, but I don't really care). I typed in " wine BYOND.exe" and it says "wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\BYOND.exe" even though I'm in the directory looking directly at it. Please help.
I'll recommend a virutual drive.
.. Which is?
He means a VM, Virtual Machine.

I believe it's called Bootcamp? on Mac where it allows you to run Windows in a VM..

Wine hasn't really played well with BYOND for a long time, you'll probably get it to work to some point such as opening the Pager, apart from some games may or may not be playable.

You need IE install for BYOND just FYI.

Check out the Linux Forum section - http://www.byond.com/forum/?forum=9

A lot of Mac users post in there.
Okay, I've looked up Virtualbox, and its required for me to have a disk drive, which I do not have, since I'm running on a Macbook Air. :'(
It says right here - https://www.apple.com/au/macbook-air/specs.html

That you have flash storage, whilst it isn't a physical disk it's still a storage drive (like a disk) it shouldn't matter....
I would need like a step by step tutorial because this is WAAYY too complicated for me lol :(
I went ahead and moved this over to Linux Talk. This isn't exactly Linux, but someone here might be able to give you some more directed advice or something to that effect.

Thanks, as for the advice .. it's pretty simple what OP needs to do..

Wine doesn't play nice with BYOND at all, hardly ever.

Using a VM is the only way or waiting till the HTML5 client comes out....

If you need help with a specific virtualization program you need to Google or go onto their forums.

"works for me" as it were. Much like those posting, I exercise it on things like SS13 and Chatters only, but that seems to be enough. In my case, on Fedora.
Here is a BYOND sticky with useful information, even articles describing how to install.

For the Virtualbox, shouldn't I have to download a Windows OS in order to use it

Yes.
I'm just about to say goodbye to Byond since I'm on my Mac. I have no idea what I'm doing.
I fail to see how you can not follow steps?

There's also plenty of YouTube videos.
After exploring the entire Virtualbox, I found what I had to do. Download an ISO file of my Windows OS that I want (Which is Win_XP), and then choose a virtual CD/DVD Disk file. Thank you everyone for your help.
