Dev Log Intro:
Alright, so I decided I'd start writing my own version of a dev log for Harmony Online. I'll be talking about what's been done, what's being done, and my thoughts towards development. I'll try and include screenshots for those seeking to have something more visual to look at.





Alpha Testing:

Let's talk about Alpha Testing. Originally, I wanted to do a closed alpha testing phase where I'd select testers from a list of applicants that seemed to be competent with helping tracking down bugs.

Recently, I've decided that instead of doing closed alpha testing that I'd do open alpha testing. This way anyone who wants to come check it out may do so.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that Alpha Testing is meant for testing the stability of servers and reporting any instability or bugs you may find. While we are okay with you just playing around, we'd appreciate all bugs and security issues reported; feel free to give feedback on anything related to game-design. This project is meant for you, so we'd love to hear all of your feedback so that we can continue to shape a game that the majority of the player base will enjoy.

It's our goal to open the world up to players for alpha testing sometime soon. I will tell you now that the game will NOT be in a playable state. There will not be much content, if any. I want to see how well the pixel movement plays out and try and wipe out anymore bugs before we start working more on content. We do have more done than what you will see, though.

More is to be seen, more is to be implemented. Life has been busy so try and be understanding with how fast things are being developed.

I agree, I wonder if there will be any issues with alot of players since the view size is pretty big. Looks amazing tho!

Some of the turfs tile badly. Not sure why your logo got the same Photoshop filter treatment as the meadow.

Either way, nice looking GUI.

I'm not sure what you're talking about exactly regarding the turfs. Can you be more specific on which turfs so I can fix them? When I made the logo I was very inexperienced with logo design. Since then, although I am aware it needs to be edited,I've decided it would be best to invest my time into expanding and creating a better world for you to play in; Same goes for the splash, that one is just a place-holder.

And thank you for your compliments on the GUI, I'd never made one before and I spent a lot of time on it.

What I mean about tiling badly is alone they might look good but once you have a bunch of them next to each-other, they start to form a pattern. The cliffs, the wooden floors, the grass is ok sort of but the really dark edges ruin it for me.

Also the really squarish break up of the turfs in the sixth picture. The cobblestone for the town has the same issue as the wooden floor but it's not as obvious.

One thing that could help the floors is also putting in horizontal lines so they actually form planks.
Did you know 69 is also the symbol for Harmony? Being yin and yang and all.

I second Xirre's request, let us have kids and build houses and develop a sandboxy life.

I am looking to build the ultimate sandbox rpg. Time is on our side! Building houses and lots of sex is definitely something I want to implement.
