I'd just like to add for those who are playing with the webclient: We encourage the creation of third-party .dms controls and if anything is found to be really special, we'd be interested in incorporating it.
Right now there is no grid control, tab control, or bar control. The tab control is relatively low-hanging fruit now. Also I'd like to have a D-pad control for mobile gaming, which is quite feasible by grabbing a list of macros (it's all in the webclient docs).
Another idea for modders might be expanding our color prompt. Right now it uses Flexi for the color selection which is pretty good, but it has no palette built in--which would be interesting to add.
Lummox JR has mentioned it'd be nice for people to make 3rd party .dms controls. I, unfortunately, am no expert when it comes to css or web languages so I'm having a bit of a hard time getting started with it. If anyone has example projects that they could post here that would be really helpful. I find it easiest to learn from examples and I'm sure others will benefit as well.
When it comes to .dms controls is it possible to mix javascript? It sounds like it from what I've read so far. If so how does that work?
Can I import javascript libraries?
Can I create something to draw lines or text on the map or other controls from a .dms file?
- Would it use javascript?
- Is the .dms file the right place?
My end goal is to increase my understanding of how to make custom controls and to make BYOND more friendly for mobile devices. I develop for iOS devices for a living and would love to be able to make BYOND games/projects for/from mobile devices or other Operating Systems other than Windows.
But I still haven't made a completely custom control from scratch yet.
