There's this game that people have been playing and buying as of recently.. Somehow the kid ExoGensis had stolen this game from an original owner and made it into his own, as I heard. The original person came to a player and asked for coordinates a while back.

This game accepts real life money for perks.. But we can't do anything about it..

EXOgenesis comes on servers just to tell people off and then IP ban them after ruining the server.. He even puts people's IP's out on the HUB just to keep them from hosting. He currently hosts two servers, in which he is getting money from. Funny part is, is that he's giving out host files on that hub. But people will get shut down right away out of no where.

I have no clue why anyone in their right mind let this be approved..

I am going to say this, that this game should never be up.. Or at least remove the paying thing.
Seems like a problem..
As deplorable as all that may be, neither we (the BYOND Moderators) nor the BYOND Staff involve ourselves in the politics of the individual games produced with the software. Developers are free to do as they please with their creations.

How do you expect to live up to the "Nazi mod" title you've been given by certain members of the community if you don't involve yourself in the politics of games? You guys need to step it up and start ruling games with an iron fist.
I thought you guys made rules of ripped games or non-original ones to not have paying methods unless approved... -_-' Please, Byond staff, step your rules up a bit more.

The game that people are trying to host are getting IP banned and worse, getting their IP's shown on documents.

Though showing players personal information to the public is illegal nor it shouldnt be allowed.

It isn't' illegal. Publicly disclosing someone's IP Address is perfectly legal as long as there are no malicious intentions.

If the user in question had posted everyone's IP address and said something along the lines of "Use this information to DDoS these people and harass them!", that would be illegal.

However, that's not to say that it isn't an immoral invasion of privacy. I think that it's hilarious that the BYOND moderators will happily lock any thread that does so much as hint at an argument brewing up, but as soon as an actual issue like information that can be used to directly trace someone's name, address, and telephone number, it's the "community's job" to look after itself.

Classic mods.
That doesnt really matter ip address shows ever information. Shouldnt be open to the public, and it is already invading someone privacy. Theirs haters on BYOND of course, but Tom, and others needs step out of the closet and handle these situations.Further more I dislike when people try find me out? Somehow i get Pedophiles on my skype, people harassing me, or theirs those who threatens me to DoS me or DDoS.
Having someone else's ip address is already invading their privacy, but that my opinion.
Pretty much exactly what I just said. It's legal, but immoral. Yet the moderators have their priorities backwards.

is what everyone is thinking here i suppose.

A moderator has officially acknowledged the issue and said he wont do anything about it. Would it be okay to leave the post alone if he was posting something like Child Pornography?

The forum's priorities go something along the lines of this(From high-priority to low-priority):

  • Censoring dissent
  • Complaining about a position you put yourself in
  • Filtering out actual low-quality content
  • Patch up security flaws

I'd advice reporting them to Funimation and urging them to conduct a criminal investigation on these matters since there's still obvious trace of this being a Dbz fangame, and they're illegally making money off of a product that they didn't own or create.

The moderation isn't the problem here, but the authority they have over games may be. There definitely should be a stricter set of guidelines for hub use.

Agreed, also add in what you said. FAN-Games should be FREE-TO-PLAY instead P2W, subscriptions etc. That makes things worse than Free-To-Play Game to avoid serious issues.

Lol, GatewayRa, I'd like to know how a dumbass like you can somehow make yourself an expert on legal matters like copyright.

They have every right to monetize off of their DBZ game so long as any transactions aren't hosted on their website or on their BYOND hub. The real issue here is piracy, which is very obviously going on by disclosing people's IP addresses.

I'm just trying to gain an understanding here but, isn't displaying somebody's ip address where many people can see it daily making them susceptible to attacks? Even if they don't directly attack the person, isn't posting their ip address attacking them indirectly?

Digressing, this has been an ongoing problem, being apparent for over two years. Yet there has been no action taken.

I have some respect for the mods, but I bet you $5 they won't handle the situation. I wonder how BYOND would fare with yet another visit from Funimation...

As do I, but the main issue with hosting fangames at all on BYOND is that it doesn't constitute abuse from the developers, but rather from the BYOND staff for monetizing off of these games, and Mr. Gateway Ra right here is too dumb to see this.
Today's world nobody follows constitution anymore. People Pirate things anything they want and get away from it.
Do all sort of things.
BYOND is in no way liable for what USERS make on its development software, the same way Unity3D isnt, the same way any development tool isn't.

They are howvever liable for what's shown on this very website, which is why many Funimation? Dbz Naruto games were hidden.

They can hand over information about a user and I doubt Tom would fight an order to do so.. which is fine many companies do so without a fight.

I think it really is disgusting what America has come to these days. The country was built on a founding of not only freedom, but people's rights to pursue happiness and people who are hosting fangames are taking away EVERY chance of BYOND surviving and the host of this one should be committing piracy by obtaining and disclosing personal information, yet he can still get away with it on the forums and in the law.

It's not even fan games it's just people abuse IP's.
