Yep, if you grab the zip version you can just extract it on your desktop and then run that version of the BYOND client and Dream Seeker when you need it (you'll find them in the "bin" subdirectory).

It looks like there's a backwards compatibility issue between the latest BYOND versions and that older game. I've filed a bug report on your behalf.
As a workaround, you can play the game in an older version of BYOND. In my testing, 506.1237 and earlier appeared to work. You can grab 506.1237 here: Installer / Zip.
