Let's try something a little different—something a bit more personal. A lot of us have been with BYOND for many years, some of us the majority of our lives. So why not share a little about each other? I'll start!

Hey there guys, I'm Robert. I'm 23, and I've been with BYOND for eleven years now (and have been a moderator for three of those eleven years). This is me as of 2/15/2015. I've been a programmer for about eight years now, but only started taking it seriously in the last couple of years. DM is my first language. I also do pixel art (and used to do traditional art with pencil and paper a long time ago).

Outside of BYOND I spend my time taking care of my younger brother and handling my four dachshunds. I've always lived in a small town, so the concept of a tiny community where everyone knows everyone is familiar to me. I have a fairly deep interest in history, law, and psychology, and I enjoy jogging whenever my shins feel like cooperating. Someday I hope to create games that other people enjoy, but I'm still working on that! :)
I am alive, fabulous, and phenomenally bored without BYOND to occupy my spare time. (Turns out recovering accounts is pretty easy.)

Yes, I do wear makeup, and yeah, I guess permanent was an overstatement. Haters gon' hate; trolls gon' troll.

Welcome back.

I'm Chris. I'm 20. This is my first BYOND account, been here since 2009. I like programming, but I like art more. So programming has remained as a little side hobby for all these years, among other things.

I'm in college pursuing an art degree (That, admittedly, is pretty useless, but that's another topic for another time), and I'm really interested in pursuing character design and concept art.

What else? I used to be in Air Force ROTC, but I opted out of it to pursue art for the immediate future.

I'm the Art Team Coordinator for a group of almost 30 people from around the world that grouped up from reddit, making a game. That's pretty fun.

Not much else to add, I suppose.

Oh, and good to see you back, Ter. :D
I'm Dan not to be confused with Dan from DanTom..

I'm 26 and a website programmer / software engineer by trade I currently live in a small town (Wollongong) in NSW Australia but was born in Redditch England in 1988.

I've been on BYOND since 2002 this is my second account.

I've been into html css js my whole life before BYOND.

I don't have a picture on hand to share.

I was a BYOND moderator way back on the BYOND forums when they were seperate from the Dev forums.

Welcome back Ter.
You look wasted in that pic lol.
My name is Josh, I am twenty years of age and an furnace operator at a heat treat plant.

I began my programming experience in highschool softmore year in a computer programming class for a semester, though I had been on BYOND three years prior(shared a key with a friend before making my own). I learned(hardly any) JavaScript, to which I was unhappy with the class's progress and took up DM as my way to counterbalance their pace with my own. Later that I started homeschooling and, senior, I went to enroll again and was told they would have to put me back where I left for homeschooling, tenth grade. I then dropped out.

Since, I've had some experience in a little of just about every big language today. Learned some html, some more java, tried out ruby and python. Never got much of anywhere with them.

Most of my early learning was just from a zeta source. Unlike most people who start with rips, I actually took initiative to learn to improve it. Trial and error for a year, I started actually visiting the forums and using(skimming) the refernce.

Also, I'm married, sorry gurls.
Hi, I'm Robert. I'm 23 years old. I'm a high school dropout and a supervisor at a gas station. I'm married and we just recently had our first son.

I started programming at around 6 or 7 years old in QBASIC. Shitty little text based games that no one outside of my immediate family ever saw. After that, I ended up moving on to ActionScript (the programming language for Flash games, for those of you who don't know). Around the time that ActionScript upgraded to 3.0, I decided it was time for a change up. My friend showed me BYOND and asked me to make a Bleach game, so I started Bleach: Breed of Destruction, a crappy little SoC rip that eventually ended up evolving into a crappy game that uses SoC's icons and ideas, but none of the actual code.

Since then I've worked on a few projects, none of them worth mentioning. Currently I'm working on a new game which I hope to have the minimum viable product finished for within the week.

Big ups Nadrew for making it easy for me to play SNES games without having to actually drag out my SNES!

Hi, I'm Cameron.

Unlike all of you, I was born a tadpole. No one knows why or how, but it happened. My Dad nicknamed me "Toad" because of this. The government tried to lock me in a cage and perform tests and experiments on me, but I was rescued by Eugene the Support Agent in 1994. By that time, my legs had started to develop and I was rapidly becoming more mobile.

Fast-forward to 2005. I was rolling joints with my homies in a swamp when suddenly I was approached by a tall, charismatic man who said his name was "Developous". He told me that despite me being a frog, I had hidden potential and that the only way to unlock it was to sell my soul to the Nexus. At first, I thought he was just crazy so I disregarded him and continued puffing on the joint me and my home skillets had rolled. But then, he did something miraculous: he showed me a blue circle with an atom inside of it, and said

"Heed my words, young frogling. What you see before you is a software so powerful, it can enable even an idiot like you to create games the likes of which the world has never witnessed before."

I gazed in amazement at the object within his grasp. My jaw dropped, and along with it, the joint. I began to perspire uncontrollably and my bones started to tremble. Using some manner of dark sorcery, Developous stretched forth his hand in my direction and my body began to ascend from the murky waters in which I sat. Once I was roughly 10 feet in the air, what happened next would change my life forever.

"Henceforth, you shall be called EmpirezTeam, and you shall serve as my right hand in the Nexian High Council as the Chief Frog Sage. But never forget: this immense power is accompanied with great responsibility. You shan't abuse it lest you bring about inescapable corruption to not only your own being, but to the universe itself."

Since that day, I have been battling the BYONDlings who threaten the laws mandated by the Nexus. Some of my most formidable adversaries include Oasiscircle, Falacy, Xeal, Eugene the Support Agent ( after rescuing me he linked me to a Justin Bieber song and I was mentally scarred ever since ), and Gamemakingdude. However, the longevity provided by the chakra bestowed upon me by Developous has allowed me to outlast them all.

Here I stand, battered and bruised, but still prepared for one final cataclysmic clash to decide the fate of BYOND for once and for all. So come at me, forces of Satan. I shall smite thee with the fury of a thousand fallen toad squires!

God dammit, ET.

I'm Tom, not to be confused with Tom from Dantom. 22 years old.

I started programming right here on BYOND when I found the site back in late '06. I haven't moved on a whole lot, though I've dabbled in other languages and really enjoy developing as a hobby.

In the real world I enjoy skiing and martial arts. I don't feel like uploading a picture, so let's just say that my avatar is a picture of myself.

come here and let me give u a hug

I've been here from pretty much the beginning. Might as well ride this train all the way to the station.

And that ninja edit of my photo is majestic, Galactic Soldier.
I'm F0lak. My real name is Jesse Woodland. I'm Canadian, and enjoying a winter milder than most of the US right now. Suckers.

I work in a restaurant at a Casino just outside of Edmonton, Alberta, where I am one of the Sous Chefs. I have been cooking since I was 15, and with BYOND since I was 12 and have been on regularly ever since, even if just lurking the forums.

I live with my girlfriend of two years who as of this post I am 3 days away from heading to Mexico with. She likes to play Ocarina of Time on my old N64 on the TV beside my computer while I work on the 2015 Project.

In the Culinary world I've been a part of 3 competitions, two of which I won. The third was the national level for one of the former, where I didn't place. I regularly post pictures of the specials I make and some cool things I see in my day-to-day life on my twitter account, so if you're interested you can check that out.

On BYOND I along with Kaiochao, Kai, and a host of others who have since left BYOND afaik made Hazordhu and Hazordhu II, the latter of which is still available to play but due to a lack of foresight and poor development strategy has become a hulking behemoth of lackluster systems and poor implementations. Early last year I decided to bring the world back with Hazordhu III, which has since fallen to the backburner as Kaiochao and I are working on our 2015 Project.

Anything you see published by me in my games was mostly programmed by Kaiochao, just so y'all know.

Ok, woah buddy, hold it right there. Houston, we've got ourselves a problem.

When you created your account, you specifically AFFIRMED that you were at least 13. Where do you get off deceiving the website? You are in blatant violation of site policies.

Hi, I'm Matt. I am 19 years old as of yesterday and was born and unfortunately raised in Maryland. I live on a 150 acre farm, have built a barn, slaughtered stuff, grown stuff, hunted stuff, trapped stuff, birthed stuff, and tons of totally unexpected stuff. I also make salads and serve foodstuff at a local diner, live with my girlfriend who, similarly to the above, plays Majora's Mask while I derp on the computer, and my dream career would be something in the Astronomy field - college starts this Fall.

I joined BYOND in '05 under a different username where I played a lot of Pokeyman games before eventually making my own series of horrible fan games with totes hardcore names like Pokemon Shadow Soul and Pokemon Nightmaric Dreams. Eventually I came into ownership of Pokemon Aurora which I promptly doubled the playerbase before burning it to the ground. Not long after I made my first original game, Zombies! (Direct) which set the stage for my most successful project, Feed. I haven't released anything since open sourcing Feed except for Skirmish which is an experimental project I've been working on and periodically updating publicly.

I could probably write on forever, but I'm going to cut myself off here.
My name is Jonathan Hargreaves, I'm 18 now and completing a cadetship to become an Engineering Officer in the merchant navy. First joined in 2008, so I was about 12 when I joined (#under13), fell in love with SS13 within a day of joining and never looked back.

Yet no matter how much I tell myself that I'm never going to visit this website again, I always do. It's like a massive blackhole of awesomeness.

Thanks for being awesome, BYOND.
