This wouldn't be a bad suggestion to make in General. I'm sure stat panels will change eventually, or support things like limited HTML, but until then, it couldn't hurt to be able to set the color (or a background image!) in there. Since stat panels are custom-drawn anyway, this would be a relatively simple matter. I'm quite sure, too, that the panels wouldn't have to all be the same, as long the color system was set up to allow for it.
