Problem description: when I advertise my game I want to use gifs and images. So how do you print a image on the byond website, and what programs are good at making gifs and how would I display those?

There are tons of programs for making gifs; Photoshop or GIMP. You can even just google "GIF maker" or something and a bunch will come up. Now if you want to record gameplay your best bet would probably be FRAPs. With any image you want to post it needs to be uploaded to a site that image hosts; such as Imgur or Photobucket.

yea i assumed i'd have to use photobucket, ive done this before on one other site. Thanks for the help!
DON'T USE PHOTOBUCKET! It's garbage!

Imgur.com is hands down the best image hosting site out there. I also use gfycat for linking large gifs. I wish BYOND's website supported .gifv, because .gifv videos are much more space efficient than normal .gifs.
Also, check out licecap. It can record your screen live and make a gif in no time.

FRAPs is shovelware. Don't bother with it. OpenBroadcaster is easily the best screen recording software out there. It also allows you to stream to a twitch account.
It is shovelware but it is easy to use. I use FRAPs plus GIMP and GIMP easily takes the FRAPs file into frames for me. OpenBroadcaster is great.
