Hello,
I do heavy music production and require a very strong processor. Problem is, my motherboard sports the 775 LGA socket and all the new and strong processors use different sockets. I found this one and would like some advice on if it's good and fast:

If anyone would like to recommend a different one, that'd be great. Thanks.
[EDIT]
I should probably tell you all what CPU I currently have. I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33 GHz.
This most likely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116419

The Core2Duo will perform better than the Pentium D. Get a Core2Quad if what you do is CPU intensive.

Thanks, I was thinking the same. Unfortunately, I have yet to find any Core2Quads with the 775 Socket. Any idea where I can find them?

Both of these outperform your current CPU:

Thanks a a lot for your help! I'm not too savvy with CPU's and I'm just wondering, if what I do now maxes out my CPU, how much percent would these new ones be operating at given the same amount of tasks as mine? If it can't be a straight answer, I understand. Again, thanks a lot for your help!
[Edit] Nevermind, I used the reference you gave and figured out the E6600 would be the best buy and I assume by the numbers that it's at least around 2x better then my current. Thanks. |
