I'm heads down at work and craving social interaction of some sort. Do you folks have an IRC network or the like where a relatively new community member can join? I stumbled across this post but was loathe to just hop in uninvited.

Thanks!
That works, too! Thanks, sir.

The topic is IRC..

But they both don't accept telnet.. Stephen removed it from Chatters.
IRC does support telnet, you just have to follow the protocol. =)
I did, your server just kicks me out before displaying anything.

root@ts:~# !telnet
telnet 104.131.240.164 6667
Trying 104.131.240.164...
Connected to 104.131.240.164.
Escape character is '^]'.

Trying a command,

root@ts:~# !telnet
telnet 104.131.240.164 6667
Trying 104.131.240.164...
Connected to 104.131.240.164.
Escape character is '^]'.

I ended up installing Epic5 , but I don't see why Telnet wouldn't work, telnet is lightweight too..

Indeed- you still have to issue NICK and USER commands as per IRC protocol.
