I thought it was a nice gesture from YoYo Games.

I happen to enjoy using the software from time to time. Although I am not currently actively using it, I did buy a copy of Professional back when it was on sale. The IDE seems clunky to me, but during runtime there's no issues. Standard exports to Windows only I believe.

Game Maker Studio is also on Steam. If you happened to buy the non-steam version, you can grab Steam keys from their support site.

Happy designing, everyone.

Game Maker Studio was always free.

I actually watched the developer of Wanderlust Adventures create his game with Game Maker. It's not a half-bad engine. Would I use it though? No.

It's capable of some pretty good stuff. And, after talking with him for a bit, it seemed to be really easy to use. I'd recommend it to people getting started. Same with BYOND. They're both fairly easy for newbies. And Game Maker doesn't seem to limit professionals all that much either.
Just checked out the trailer for that game out, looks pretty nice.

Yeah, apparently he's released on steam as well. From what I have seen, he's had a few successful games put out there. Not just on steam, but, on the mobile market as well. Assuming when you say "that" you're talking about Wanderlust.
haha, right yeah i was indeed referring to the game (what else? o.o) lemme fix that up though :P.
