Issue hasn't been assigned a status value.
It's not uncommon to load an old map and hooray! it doesn't compile, then having to fix the typepaths can be a pain sometimes, especially on things like open source projects where you're probably gonna be unaware what changed to what, if the object tree were still usable that'd be very nice.
It's kind of a Catch-22 because successful compilation is required to use the object tree. At the very least you would have to uncheck the map and recompile. But IIRC a map with invalid type paths can't generate pops, and without pops the map editor doesn't know how to handle it.
Updating the object tree doesn't actually compile the maps, atleast it doesn't if you use the "update" button on the UI instead of compiling again.

The real reason you can't is because the pending map errors window locks DM's main window, I know a lot of applications do this, but it'd be very nice if it wouldn't lock DM's main window.
