Ten Year Anniversary Release!

You can now download the ten year anniversary edition release 2.0 from the main hub page download. For the purposes of the old version, of which the latest version had a total of 2,546 downloads alone despite a shortage of hosting, can continue to be hosted and played with the following link: http://files.byondhome.com/Acebloke/Wargamesold.zip

For everyone else however, enjoy the 2015 version of the game! I will likely host a week long game starting tomorrow, perhaps with some additional content.

Too much has changed for a useful update list, but this is what has been in my notes. For an easier, albeit slightly longer version of the update, listen to my explanation here:

    Update after 25th May - 2nd June Round:

Bug fixes:
* Nuke related:
+ Ultimate fail: using nukes checked and removed nuclear material, but didn't prevent nuking if material not available.
+ Trinity bomb using wrong icon.
+ Fat Man not showing up in right place in non-Top-HUD-at-12x12.
* Interface:
+ Clicking 'other' in the menu didn't work because it had been renamed 'Information'.
+ Clicking on any of the ministry menus would not be allowed unless the default map size was set, based on old code where the ministries and the map shared same space.
+ Import Coal would not always display a different icon to show there was resources available to buy.
Changes:
* Interface:
+ The map can now be 'redocked' into the main window, which also resizes automatically. Use of the splitter can change the length of the map with the output boxes.
+ Players online tab moved to the other tabs, to save space.
New Units:
* French Republic:
+ Char 2C, first 'super heavy' Tank.

Next

Bug Fixes:
* Battle System:
+ A minor error relating to the latest unit fixed.
* Interface:
+ Using a different colour theme would not change the colour of the 2 newest labels for coal and year display.
* Resources:
+ Fixed a minor bug with recycling (irrelevent currently, but will take effect when recycling centres reopen).
Changes:
* Building Changes:
+ Ports now offer 0.2 food rather than 0.1 and also take advantage of new feature.
+ Barracks now offers 500 space up from the original 200, building cost also upped from a lowly 2,500 cash to 75,000 and wood cost from 200 to 1000.
+ Although not reimplemented yet, Freezers now upgraded from 600 space to 2000.
* Interface:
+ Information now has a different icon because the Cancel X mark is too common.
+ Battles are now in its own window, although there is still some work to do, it stops spamming everyone with debug messages.
+ Food and Uranium, which goes into decimimal places, will now show the decimal in the event of < 1000 of that resource.
+ 'Department of Statistics' which is a window recently added for Population and Land leaders has now upgraded to have buttons for each section in the same window, and taken out of Information tab of commands.
* Battle System:
+ General non-visible improvements to combat partly related to interface changes, partly because I was trawling that section of code at the time.
* Trading:
+ Passive trades (ships automatically built by your port buildings which sell resources you set at dirt cheap prices) are now linked by 'tonnage' with the first trade ship type 10 times better than the previous version.
+ Exporting now done in the new Department of Revenue and Customs, Importing through the trade tab on the main window.
* Statistics:
+ Removed the limit of 10 names on the leaderboard, will now do as many as necessary.
* Startup options:
+ Readded None as a religion selection, it was previously only available by not clicking anything on this screen in this version of the game.
* Commands/Ministry changes:
+ You can now do revolutions via the Seat of Government page.
+ Revolution commands taken off of Research tab.
* Resources:
+ Government building influence of resource creation nerfed:
- Food is halfed.
- Wood is reduced to 10%
+ Ports are now uneffected by the base terrain modifier, but may be effected by terrain (see below). This gives the non-plains terrain better food options.
+ Mountain terrain changed - a less crippling food penalty makes it a more viable alternative to plains, uranium nerfed to slightly compensate, but a good all rounder.
- Halved Uranium gain
- Halved Food penalty from a quarter to a half.
- Ports now provide 0.2 food per square, and 0.2 food for the spare sea tile for each port. This is the base amount, but was previously effected by the base terrain modifier for food.
+ Arid terrain changed -
- Ports now provide 0.3 food per square, and 0.3 food for the spare sea tile for each port.
+ Tundra terrain changed -
- Oil now produces a pro at double rather than a con at quarter.
- Ports now provide 0.4 food per square, and 0.4 food for the spare sea tile for each port.
* Alliances:
+ Alliances now run much as they used to in 1.final, with an alliance bank, colour change, leadership change, ranking and permission options.
+ Default Alliance Creation cost is now 100,000. Is now also a free option.
New Features:
* Buildings:
+ Ports now produce an extra 0.2 food for each spare sea tile available. These tiles can't have buildings on them.
* Research:
+ Researching new units is now in a seperate research slot so you can do one of each type at the same time. Requires Academy buildings.
+ Unit Research is now tiered, an upgrade for a tank, for example, will take longer than the original research. Extra Academy buildings speed up the process, but each level of tier brings a minimum 25 turns.
* New leaderboards:
+ Military Expenditure, lists countries by the amount of money they have spent (in millions) on military gear (including nukes).
+ Tradeship tonnage, lists countries by the amount of tons their passive civilian ships can transport.
* Head of State:
+ Kings, Dictators, Prime Ministers and Presidents have own icons now (more to come).
* Ministries:
+ Updated Seat of Government Page to new interface.
- Seat of Government shows approval rate by ideology at last.
+ Department for Finance is the replacement for Finance tab of Ministry of Economy.
+ Department for Manufacturing is the replacement for Resources tab of Ministry of Economy.
- Shows breakdown of each resource into incoming, outgoing, net gain.
* Espionage:
+ You can now spy on Ministries of other players!
* Space:
+ Added Mars map, for fun. Includes both moons on two corners which will make some kind of difference later.
* Trading:
+ Added Automatic trading. This allows you to set a specific max price and minimum stockpile level before buying on the open direct trade market. Food, Wood, Coal is set on by default.
+ Importing is now done in the trade tab that never really did anything useful.
* WarMart:
+ Spend Credits on DLC ingame!
+ UK, US, Russia all have 50 credit purchases for a special infantry unit.
+ France, Italy, Germany all have 100 credit purchases for their Unit Packs (available on WG1 or Complete Pack subscriptions).
* Sound Effects:
+ Sound effects now available for buildings.
+ Sound effects now available for HUD options.
+ Sound effects now available for research completion.
+ Sound effects now available for WMDs.
New Units:
* United Kingdom:
+ A1E1 Independent is a heavy tank for the UK, historically cancelled for being too costly, it was still an important part of tank development.
+ Medium Mark I is a Medium tank for the UK which is the next step up for the Hornet.
* United States:
+ M1918 Ford 3 ton tank, a 1918 upgrade to the Renault FT import. It is a slightly cheaper and nippy version at the cost of gun range.
* Russian Federation:
+ Also gets the A1E1 Independent.
+ Germany:
+ Germany is now a selectable unit option for subscribers.
+ Their first tank is the A7V, a chunky heavy tank, but with disadvantages.
+ Gets the A1E1 Independent in 1931.
New Buildings:
* Academy: Part of the divided Military Research. Necessary to upgrade units, also provides a small speed increase for more than one.
* Castrum: An Early Barracks, provides 120 space for reduced cost and power use, available from -250 onwards.
New Terrain:
* Swarm terrain replicates the swarm map, subscriber only. Food and Wood reduced, but Metal and Oil doubled. 25% defence penalty.

-= Subscriber features =-

* Germany is now selectable as a unit option.
* Swarm Terrain at country selection
nice
