Ugh, still using AVG because I hate switching and don't like trusting others. I don't browse anything particularly interesting (detailed conflict reports of groups fighting in Iraq, Syria; sex toys, humble bundle etc).

I'm presuming the conflict with Hebrew script is the fact its not in the typical latin script and writes right to left, presumably Arabic, Farsi and Urdu have the same problem.
sex toys

I like how you just slipped that in there. /double entendre

Avast is in the same category as AVG, if you ask me.
^I agree. I jumped ship on Avast several years ago.

I wound up having to manually remove a virus that avast somehow missed completely. After that, I just got to thinking: "What do I even have this for? I've never had it actually give me anything but false-positives, and the one time it was supposed to stop a program, it failed me completely."

All it was doing was slowing my machine down and nagging me about premium so I ditched it.

Recently, I had to start watching Naruto because I was doing a bunch of work with a paying client where I'd benefit if I knew what they were talking about.

I don't understand.

If you're just working for someone on a game or something you can pull up whatever you need to know about Naruto on the Wikia. The characters, plot, abilities, everything is on the Wikia, you can just type in whatever he's talking about into the Wikia and there'll be a page about it.

For example, typing "frog narto rides on" into Google takes you straight to the Wikia.

Firefox with noscript and adblock plus has been pretty good to me, along with smart browsing and program installation choices. I do run MSE/Defender on my machines, but it's almost more out of habit than necessity at this point. I know that in recent years Microsoft has fallen from the pack a bit, but the programs are so light weight I never even notice they're running.

When MSE first came out years ago I replaced AVG Free with it and had no regrets. The program was getting pretty bloated to use even then. Plus constantly trying to get me to upgrade to the paid version was irritating.

Bitdefender work best for me, out of everything else I've tried. Comparable to Norton.

It looks great and I'll get used to it, but I have to be honest. When Ganite told you to change it back, I had to look and see where you had posted because I didn't realize it was you ;)

Poor pleb. Let us all know when you upgrade to the real thing.
They already claim Google and Microsoft are collecting your data, it's sort of pointless to be angry at AVG just because your browsing history is being sold.

In my opinion, it's the fact I want my anti virus to be an anti virus and not add more fuckery in the system, it needs to be as light as possible.
@Rotem: Difference is that AVG is a slow, obnoxious, intrusive piece of shit.

I don't mind being watched and having my data sold. It's that I don't trust AVG to do it.
I still don't see the problem with Avast. It's never failed me, except with false positives. Oh man, my biggest problem with it is when I'm programming and it eats my executable.

I did switch to Windows Defender to see if that and MalwareBytes works fine enough. I simply want a lighter anti-virus.

EDIT: At the same time I don't feel like Avast is a big hog most of the time either. Boot-up is probably the slowest part that I notice.
