Descriptive Problem Summary:
The generation of the object tree has (as far as i can tell) no bearing on the actual compilation job. It's not used by DD or DS, it's not compiled into the dmb nor the rsc (or at least, these files are not modified during this stage). From what I can tell, it's use is purely for the object tab (and maybe the map maker, i never open that)

So implying one should wait for it's generation to finish before starting the world in DD is misleading.

It seems like it should print the line saying the compiling is done, then work on the object tree (and maybe print a line to this effect)

Technically that object tree generation is considered part of the normal compile process as far as the frontend is concerned, which is why it does it that way. Basically when Tom made the compilation threaded he left the process as-is.

I do see a value in making that a separate process.
