Reverting to the old reference for the time being.
BYOND Version:N/A (Website Bug)
Operating System:Windows 7 Pro
Web Browser:Firefox 9.0.1
Applies to:Website
Status: Resolved (web)

This issue has been resolved.
Descriptive Problem Summary:
The online reference does not appear to be working correctly.
A) Using the search form on that page runs a general search on the BYOND forums, not on the reference.
B) Trying to open a reference entry only shows it's search "stub" entry with a short description and link to the entry (which will show the same stub again).

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:
1) Go to the online reference
2) Run a search for "new"
3) See that a general forum search is run
4) Return to the online reference
5) Select any link on the reference tree
6) Try to open the reference entry
7) See that a stub is returned, instead of the actual entry, as if you had run a search.

Expected Results:
The search box should search for reference entries, and click a link to an entry should show the full entry.

Actual Results:
The search box searches the forums, and there appears to be no way to reach the full reference entry pages.

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often? Everytime
In other user accounts? Only account, administrator
On other computers? Tried it on two of my machines, both of which are running Firefox. Also tried it on my phone, which is using the default Android browser.

When does the problem NOT occur?
The static version of the page appears to be working fine.

Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)
Did not occur before the site update

Workarounds:
Use static or Dream Maker version. I tried spoofing a few likely URLs to get to the full online entries, but was unsuccessful.
Yeah, this definitely proves to me that the new incarnation of the website hasn't been properly tested.

There will always be hiccups--I don't expect Tom and Lummox to be perfect. I'm sure they'll manage to fix the major issues relatively quickly.
I'll just tack this on here because it's similar, but the web reference isn't up to date and furthermore when downloading new versions of BYOND the reference within them is also not up to date with all of the pixel movement information.
The ref on your computer not updating actually has to do with like, the AppData folder having it's own copy of the ref...which is being read before the one that comes with the Program Files.

Looks like they've gone back to the old reference for now.
Yeah, we'll have to better integrate the web ref into this new system.

Still seems broken to me?
DarkCampainger's link is still broken, but the reference linked in the menu (http://www.byond.com/docs/ref/index.html) works fine.
Fixed the link. We'll fix the ref up later, maybe integrate it into the forum as a wiki.
...of course it's still broken. They clearly said they are reverting back to the OLD reference; http://www.byond.com/docs/ref/index.html
Obviously using the new one isn't going to work.

That is a link from my tutorial series that is almost a year old. Just how old are these OLD ones they are reverting to?
Yeah, you'll want to revise those links to just point to the old style reference (which will always work, even if we update the new one).
Actually, we can probably do that automatically. On the list.
