Pop is 100% right. "On Deviantart" does not mean free. If you think otherwise, thousands of artists will beg to differ.
OP, I'm closing this thread. You're carping about a private transaction whose details and legality you're not privy to. The sale of those resources is not my business, and it isn't yours either.

It's free to view because it's on DeviantArt, but copyright law still applies even on the internet. Just because you see something online doesn't mean you're free to use it however you want. You an use it if the use falls under, e.g., fair use, but fair use is limited in its scope.
