This issue has been resolved.
Descriptive Problem Summary:
Something on the caves.dmm away mission caused a lockup for all clients on that Z-level. The lockup continues after reload.

So, you see those burning bones/skeletons inside the lava, ya, lavacode wasn't expecting something that can't actually burn to ash, and burn code was done rather haphazardly so it doesn't check that something has a fire overlay before adding one.

So every 2 seconds, it would add a fire overlay to those burning skeletons.

The one i was able to ViewVars had 500 overlays, I'm sure some had much much more.

Excellent. I have a sanity check added for future BYOND versions that should hopefully help with these cases, although IMO a map like that might be crash-happy regardless. Glad to know you found the root of it.
