I have a question.

I really hope someone can answer this because I am deeply confused. This is my second day on Byond. Apparently my brand new account was banned from a random server on SS13 back in 2015. October 7th to be precise.

Now I have come to find out that these CID's that Byond bans by and uses are based on hardware. Here's where I have a trump card, this machine was built about 2 weeks ago. It's IMPOSSIBLE that it's CID was banned back in 2015 as I have never even heard of this.

Please, someone enlighten me because I am the most confused person ever. Like this is some back to the future level ish. I would really like to get to the bottom of this as I have never been banned from anything and don't plan on it at 27 years old and I would like to think I am over that immature stuff.

Attached pictures here should be proof enough. http://imgur.com/a/4cDZG

*EDIT* Here's the ban message from the future past space cowboy. http://imgur.com/Qa9FpUY

P.S The username that was banned was 'meowkhaev'. I can re-assure you that I have never heard this name before in my life.
I also share cid with whiskeysim for some uberknown reason (we saw eachother on another ss13 server).

In my case it is also impossible for my machine to have been banned back in 2015 since i only restarted playing about 2 weeks ago, and before that had not played since 2014.
If anyone is curious, we found each other on the Paradise Server and started messaging on there when the admin gave us each others names so we could get to the bottom of it.

Here's a small chat log of us trying to figure out what was going on for proof. http://imgur.com/g7VzhZk

Once I had two players with two different IP addresses on other sides of the world, sharing a CID.

IIRC I reported it at the time and I think it was fixed...?
Yeah, this is the same exact case.

Jey and I don't even know each other. For all I know he lives in china (defiantly not china).

Thanks for a little hope.

It's not impossible to share a CID. It may simply be a rare hash collision.
thats one hell off a collision tho, for dozens of people sharing the same one on multiple ss13 servers
According to the admin here http://www.hippiestation.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3147

I quote from their admin "From what i can see, the two of you do indeed share the same CID. Our records also show 13 more users connected to the same CID."

I am sure someone from Byond can look into this further.

We've had this issue with a couple of IDs in the past that seemed to collect multiple users. (Three of them in fact. Two haven't been used in a while and the third has no login records anymore.) There's probably some common element in your hardware that's giving off the same info that really shouldn't be. Probably not actually a hash collision with that many people sharing it (and our logs show similar results).
we already did a short comparison, but nothing really match in our hardware. I'm on an hp server board, double xeon cpu. Rather old hardware at that.

On the other hand, his motherboard is for gen 5 intel cpu, so rather recent.

I'm not sure which factors are used to create that cid, but for them to be identical between my machine and his seem pretty weird considering we likely dont share any similar hardware.
You're not using WINE, are you?
i know im not, im on windows 7 for this machine.
Same thing for me, Windows 7. 4790k with a 980TI on a Z97-A
This can also happen if you're using computers which were mass-imaged, i.e office computers, under certain circumstances.
also not the case here
Also not the case here, if you would have actually read the post you could clearly seen it's not office built.
