This issue has been resolved.
Descriptive Problem Summary:

The webclient seems to completely flop when there's a large number of maptexts (around like 50 or so) on a client's screen at any given time. The renderer dips down to like single-digit FPSes in most cases when there is simply too much maptext around.

I'll look into this. My guess is it's not caching properly. Should be pretty fixable.
