Whenever I launch Dragon Universe, this happens: http://i.imgur.com/6EYDul1.png

I can still see the chat going and talk in the chat, however a black screen is where the map is supposed to be. You can also the white overlapped borders that aren't supposed to be there.

I've launched Eternia Roleplay and SS13, and those games worked fine. I decided to host and join a version of DU that's around a year old to see if an update was somehow the problem. Going to a later version did not fix it. I've also went to another game that had similar code to DU(Roleplay Rebirth) and the same problem occurred. This is my first time getting on BYOND in 3-4 months, so it wasn't happening when I left.

I deleted the cache, cfg, and skins folder, and it did not solve the problem. Before I quit the game, I had to constantly delete the kb313 update to get into the BYOND game. While I was away from BYOND, I let my laptop update as normal. Currently, Windows will no longer allow me to uninstall that update(kb313).

The game works on my previous PC that runs windows 7. I seem to be the only one with this problem. I'm just trying to play with a friend.
It may not fix your issue, but try upgrading to the newest beta 510.1344. The newer betas try to force Dream Seeker to use a better graphics card if one is available, and it's possible your current setup is using Intel's integrated graphics instead.

Just tried it and it didn't work. Thank you though
Does the same happen for NEStalgia? Do any of the chat verbs work?

I just tried it and this showed up: http://i.imgur.com/8sSvwDr.png

I was able to alternate between black and white BGs. I toggled world say and whispers successfully
I'm hvaing a similar issue in select games. I'll give DU a try and see if I have similar results.

Try Rise of the Pirates for me. It appeared fine.

I have a GTX 970 so maybe it's in relation to graphics cards?

EDIT: DU displays fine to me. Although, I'm in 1341.

Rise of the Pirates works for me. I went into the Nvidia Control Panel and changed my physx processor to the 850, cpu, and auto-select. Same results every time.

What do you mean by 1341?
The build I'm using. I use beta builds, I need to update to the latest still.

Ohhh. I've tried the stable 509.1319 and I'm in the most recent beta 510.1344 right now. Still the same.

When I launch DU, the login screen appears fine. When I finish creating or loading my character, the screen does that. Does the same happen to you once a character is created?
I updated to 1344 and everything on DU seems to work fine. =|

Other games are working as well?
NEStalgia wasn't working for me. I don't really play anything on BYOND, I'm just a developer who lingers. I haven't really tested a bunch of games out or anything.

Aaand I just fixed it...

Options and Messages>Client>Preferences>Untick "Use Graphics Hardware for Displaying Maps"

The game is more pixelated than usual, but it's bearable.
See, doing that didn't seem to work for me. How odd...

NEStalgia looks like this to me now: http://i.imgur.com/iO1pYg7.png

I haven't purchased it, but it looks less cluttered than the last image. If you ever get it fixed on your end, let me know.
Reinstall DirectX 9.0c. My guess is that you don't actually have DX installed properly on your machine.

One user recently reported that installing the DirectX SDK actually solved the problem completely.
