Oh boy, never thought I'd have to post something like this....


What operating system and/or browser are you using?

Windows 7


What were you trying to do when the problem occurred?

Open BYOND.


What actually happened, and how did it differ from what you expected?

The moment I open BYOND, it says "Loading Game Information" then becomes non-responsive and has to be force closed. Does not move past this screen regardless of how long I leave it.


What steps did you follow?

-I removed my anti-virus (AVG)
-Rebooted computer several times
-Uninstalled BYOND and deleted associated files, then re-installed
-Remade exception in Windows Firewall


As of two months ago it worked perfectly fine, however I took a small hiatus and now it simply does not work.
What is your language/locale setting? That seems to be a frequent culprit.

English/USA, never changed it.
I would suggest going to My Documents\BYOND and finding the localhub.db file in the cfg folder. Rename that to something else. (First be sure byond.exe isn't in your task manager, though.) Does the problem go away after that?

After doing that, the problem is persisting. Didn't seem to make any difference. I guess I will just uninstall for now.
So, after many 'Not Responding' and lag, I finally got it to a point I could attempt to open a game. However, it hangs on 'Dream Seeker may be experiencing a problem reaching byond.com' and no matter how long it sits, will not actually load into the game.
Bump still an issue.
Addendum: the wait-chain says 'taskhost.exe' is the cause, after doing some digging, aided by a great person.
