Was GOA making money when it got put down? Anyone know what exactly happened?
A fangame doesn't have to make money to be illegal, it's a common misconception. Making money simply makes it more likely the copyright holder will take notice.

Just the act of a fangame existing is in violation of the law, and the copyright holder doesn't need any reason beyond that to make a claim.
Wow for real? Does the same apply to fan-games outside byond like Ps4 Naruto games and all those(mb Idk much bout this stuff)?

Thanks for the info tho.
Those games are generally officially licensed. Meaning they're not fangames.
Hm I see, is there a way to get those kinda licenses on byond?
Unless you have a professional production with hundreds of thousands of dollars, I doubt it.
dang lol I see
And even so, they'd charge royalty fees correct?
That depends entirely on the agreement you would have with the license holder, but it's a moot point because for an IP as popular as Naruto you would have to pay an enormous amount of money. This is ignoring the fact that unless you're already a known entity, you wouldn't even be able to get your foot in the door.
What's an IP? Intellectual Property? And ah I see
