  • This is my first proper attempt at some turfs. I tried a variety of ways to get them to be seamless, although I think it may still need some work. Does anyone have any pointers they could give me in terms of improving the tiles and creating the edges for the path?

    Also, please note that the cliff was not made by me. It is merely there to show how the grass could look on a cliff. So no comments on that.

Okay, hope this bit here helps

When you have grass on a raised surface like a cliff, you can try to lighting it up a bit(Mkae a tile in DMaker that is pure white and 10 alpha, copy N Paste till it looks light enough). For your dirt, usually its darker, unless its sand like a dessert, and usually it doesnt go sand to grass unless there is water near. Also for the path you could change it up, the color is weird, and I don't know what its supposed to be. You could try a light dirt, like it has been stepped on and compressed.

You could follow many seamless grass tutorials that are in here(Even one made by me) if you really want it seamless and breaking that grid(Sorta). There is also a nice Resource by TDMI that shows the edges of grass and such that breaks the grid and looks nice. But you should just use those as references(Or following the steps).

Also, to fix up the edges yourself. Mainly all you have to do is let the higher one overlay on the lower. Like grass will edge over onto sand, or the path. Though you'll need to randomize it by adding in little splotches of grass, and the edge should be big and detailed. Also paths are usually in small abstract lines, cause noone usually goes the same route.

And if you want to show sand overlaying onto something, it has to have a grainy effect and sorta 'dither' into the next tile. Also when you tile stuff, don't make it in straight lines like that, that is a horrible design. Straight lines are only Man Made, you'll never see them in nature. So mess up the path, let it stop and start, and get big, or small, and curve.

Also for your sand have mounds, where the sand is higher and creates a shadow, cause that happens alot in sand, it isn't just flat and has random shades like yours.

The turfs are okay, they need a bit more texturing though.

Also the path isn't saturated enough.

    Hmm did you use a ref for it because it looks like the place where kid buu vs Goku SSJ3 fought looks at this a little i know its a bad ref but i looked at it and urs looked a little same as it

It does look a little similar, however no, I just threw together some turfs to display them together for comparison.
