Last night after seeing my post, babble.13287, buried by that ridiculously extended NAACP thread, it occurred to me that there's one class of posts that barely fits anywhere. Right now newbies are constantly confused by this and often posting in Creations as a result.
We need a forum for classifieds--that is, people seeking helpers on a project or offering services for dimes or whatnot. It should say that it's strictly for BYOND purposes, naturally, so we don't get all kinds of weird stuff there (heck, it isn't eBay), but I think it would otherwise work pretty well.
Also--and I've advanced this idea before--I think a lot of DBZers would get together through this medium. Knowing the type as I do and their (insert condescending snicker here) ability to collaborate on projects, I think you'd have a lot of them working together while not inundating the forums with as much of their own special charm. They'd work together for a few weeks, get frustrated at getting nowhere, then the group would fall apart. So there's the advantage of getting DBZers somewhat out of our hair without the danger of them actually producing anything.
Since my own post (babble.13287) belongs in Classifieds, and currently resides on page 3 of Babble, where I'd encourage anyone to read it even though I have no intention of bumping it (for a few days at least), we need a forum for this purpose.

Sounds like a great idea. In addition to other posting guidelines, subject headings should be very clear. (They should be in all forums, but it should be more scrictly enforced in the classifieds.) That way programmers don't waste time reading 500 posts for icon artists and vice versa.
I'd also like to applaud Lummox JR for not bumping babble.13287, even though it was buried so quickly. It's very frustrating to see your post slide out of view in less than half an hour like babble.13287 did. It certainly helps to mention the post (like babble.13287) a few times in a related thread though. ;)

Done. I think this is a good idea.
I'm still thinking about some of the other forum requests too, eg- Lexy's previous naming suggestions. I think that the forum descriptions need to be more prominent, perhaps making them popup before you make your first post in each forum, or something obtrusive like that. Of course, once we have some moderators in place, they'll be able to move posts to their appropriate locations and I don't think this will be an issue.
ooh! ooh! Can I be a moderator.
p.s. you may want to just keep it the way it is now (no more new categories) the top of the page is getting pretty crowded.

ooh! ooh! Can I be a moderator. Sorry to have to say this mate but they would prefere moderators to be Grammatically and Punctuationally corrected. I am not saying I am in that category because I am not its also most likely going to be someone like Z, Lexy, Spuzzum, Deadron and all the others such as them...you could say that all the Guru's will be doing it because they are well known and they know what is what and where to put everything. So we dont really come into this. Lee

That sounds like a good idea.
It might be useful to lay down some ground rules for the classifieds. Perhaps threads could limited to two posts by the same author (one for announcing the offer, and one for announcing it's no longer offered). This could help prevent bumping and general babbling.
(I think I'll try my hand at the five water icons this weekend... if they don't meet your needs I can always keep 'em for a DDT game or one of my own!)!
