Icons directly taken from Other Projects when tried to be input via input() or argument does not seem to be accepted by the engine.

I observed this in IconShare and RPG2DMI.

Can you bypass this?

It must be some retarded BYOND bug, which I've had problems with as well. Best I can do to get past it is open the icon, change something about it, then close it to re-save it. I'd report it, but the idiots banned me again.
