Hey just recently I had a hard drive malfunction and my Dead World source was lost, got it sent out and they said there was nothing they can do, my dead world source could not be recovered.

Ive been coding this game for about 1 year now put a lot of my time into it and id hate if I had to start all over again. Ive heard rumours a few years back about a .dmb decompiler, if anyone has it id appreciate if you could recover my source back. Just send it to my email account anhedonia@live.ca thanks, Id also be willing to pay 100$ to the BYOND staff if they could help me recover it.

Darker , I don't think a working .Dmb decompiler exists as you want it , the BYOND staff stated that if someone was able to create such a thing - the output of what was your game would be unreadable and pretty much making it an Million piece puzzle.
Still doesnt hurt to try before starting from square 1 again. I hate starting over, this would be my 4th time doing it again.
Keep Trying ^-^ , And a tip - Why not backup your sources? - I always send every project that I'm working on once a week to my Email.
Funny thing is before it malfunctioned i had a gut feeling i should save it to a flash, couple hours go by, i get a cant detect hard drive error. Never again will i make that mistake again.
You could always keep trying to get it to work o-o ; freeze it? ; or go to another place to get it looked at/fixed , I'd keep trying if it was that important ^-^.

This is sort of the issue, yes.
Decompilers do exist, but the people who made them are probably not going to give you one, and the output code is a massive mess that basically needs reprogramming entirely.

Typically it's better to find out who is around that has made one, as ask them avoid whether it's feasible to do and toss them the DMB. If it's not feasible, they'll say.

There's a bit/lot of massaging you need to do by hand for pretty well all of the decompilers I've had some interaction with, and so it's really worth bearing in mind you're asking the author to give up an hour or two of their time doing that massaging for unusual constructs.
I swear that everyone is having hardware problems now...

Am I the only one who hasnt had one?

how are you guys doing this?
It's also a good idea to backup important files on the cloud these days.
had a bunch of crap on megaupload...

yea...

I have a flash drive my MP3 players and on a disc full of my stuff. I never lose it ; its just a habit o-o
Yea haha, Not like I was asking for the de-compiler for myself but asking for someone to de-comiple my DW.dmb and send it to my email. But yea since no one can help I guess ill be starting over again and this time ill start backing up my stuff from now on.
Never giving up ^-^
One program .. Dropbox ...

I hope you don't give up :)
we all should not give up...
You could use Dropbox to backup your sources. Or Skydrive.
As for personal backup habits, the last time I did active development I kept regular backups of my source on floppy disks and on a remote server. I locked the floppies away in a safe.
