(I am new in this "Linux guild" but am actually quite old hat with Byond. This just seemed the most logical place to ask for help in this situation.)

I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and Wine 1.3, and I installed Byond without any trouble.
Everything seems to work pretty well. At first I was in this emulated desktop, and the windows stuck to my cursor if I picked them up and wouldn't be put back down, but when I got rid of the desktop, that problem went away. The only problem that I can see so far, is that I can't interact with popups in-game. This is very problematic, since at least most games I play start with a "New player" popup, and you click a link thingie to enter the game proper.

I have installed the recommended DLLs with Winetricks and everything. So if anyone could shed some light, that would be most appreciated.
Could you take a screenshot of the issue?

Sure. I was going to say you wouldn't see much, as it is a problem with clicking the links, but That seems to be slightly wrong...

So popups are sometimes black, and sometimes visible, but no matter what they look like, when you hover over a "link" the cursor turns into that pointing hand, and when you click it, nothing happens.

Everything else seems to be working, far as I can tell. Verbs, map, the text on the side. Lag times are wonderful.

I think I remember experiencing that bug a few times.
Can you try turning off Compiz / KWin desktop effects?
In response to Flame Sage (#3)
Compiz was not in fact on. It was installed, so I uninstalled it, (I don't use it anyway). Nothing changed.

I tried turning visual effects off as well, but that didn't do anything either.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Is it just the browser elements that aren't working, or any kind of "normal" window popup?
