Scrolling through the ad section on BYOND, I noticed most people are not paying people to make their games for them. Scrolling through Indie Games.com, I noticed most developers outside of BYOND are earning money to develop their games with Kickstarter.

Like, every other game nowadays ends up on Kickstarter. It's almost as if paying for developers with your own money is a thing of the past. Simply come up with an idea, make an interesting video about it, and put it on Kickstarter. Voila - thousands of dollars to pay your programmer, artist, and whatever else you need.

People don't want to spend hours making your net dream come true in exchange for GM verbs. They prefer money.

Kickstarter.com. Use it.
I love you, ET. <3

You mean you didnt know about kickstarter yet?

I knew about it, I'm just glad somebody on BYOND actually brought it up to people here. BYOND developers seem to think that they have to rely on BYOND alone as it's medium for advertisement and funding. It's almost as though they refuse to acknowledge third party sites which is something the community needs to stop doing.
For a second I thought you meant ET the alien derp.
Real programmers aren't in it for the money, they'd do it for free. You shouldn't have to pay for your dreams.

There was an attempt for a Kickstarter not long ago for a BYOND game, Vault of Heaven. It looks like it didn't go well though.
Because he wasn't really ready to do it. Before you even sign up for Kickstarter you should have a video ready and I don't even think he knew that.
