Descriptive Problem Summary:
Whenever I click on certain things for byond games it opens the cache and certain files from my documents open automatically into my firefox web browser. It is doing this for the latest version of byond

When does the problem NOT occur?It doesn't occure when I click powers or other verbs. Whenever I click browser related things, or things that open pop up windows, the problem occurs, after I close them
Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? It did not occur in other versions If so, what was the last version that worked?It did not occur in my previous version which was 56 I think. (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)

You didn't include any information needed to reproduce this. Please expand on the decsription of the problem, and provide a set of numbered steps to reproduce it (a demo would also help), or the issue will be deleted.

Here is a video of the problem. I realised that the uninstall wasn't full when I did the video, but I've reinstalled 3 times now, and I have fully deleted before. It was the exact same thing. I'm fairly certain this is what they're going on about. | |

Yeah, I've went back to a previous version (470) and it still opens the files. I'm running windows 7 and using google chrome, but I know people are using chrome and unaffected by this.

Did you recently update your computer to use IE 9? I bet that has something to do with it, since the video is showing a problem when a file is sent to the embedded browser. I'm sure we can fix it.

That'd be greatly appreciated. I've never actively searched for an update to IE9, but there's a high chance I got it in an update to my system, being windows and all. Any way for me to de-grade my IE in the mean time? I'm not so confident in my knowledge when it comes to browsers and the like.

Well, it's just a theory. But I see now that the initial post was made in 2009 (before IE 9) so it is likely something else. It would help to get more feedback from anyone else having the problem (at least one other user in this thread).

Hrmn. I never noticed the date either, if I'm honest. I should also point out, I've played the game in question before (I've not tested other games yet) and there was no problem like this. It was on the same set up, but my computer needed a system wipe, and I can't remember if I'd played it successfully since. (I only started up BYOND again last week). Edit: What I am about to do is try updating to IE9, and see if that does anything.
Edit: As far as I can tell, updating my IE seems to have fixed it. I guess there was just an issue with my not using the latest browser in the latest BYOND. Of course, I have no idea what I'm talking about, but instead just throwing guesswork at you. Thanks anyways, man! | |
