I've tried to follow a few guides on here, and im just not sure what is problematic so far with this. I DL, install, and it seems to work fine thus far. Buuut, then i get to the running a host file portion. I navigte properly to the host file, or just type the entire path in after DreamDaemon. It looks like it runs but returns a
[1] 2500
-bash: /usr/local/bin/Dreamdaemon: no such file or directory.
The number is just an example after the [1] since it changes every time i attempt to run DD.
This seems understandable since its not located in that directory, but im not quite sure why it would install in a directory and then not properly execute along its directory path.

I followed I guide on here (it was locked, and i cannot find the thread now). I downloaded and installed throughthe terminal via
wget (linux DL link) make install There were two methods i tried, one was a bit more complicated but produced the same results.I would browse to the folder i placed the host files in, and type DreamDaemon (file).dmb (port) (options) & And hit enter to produce the result. I entered the port i had set for forwarding and tried multiple option commands as I tried this various times. I put the & at the end so if it ran, it would continue to run in the background. If anyone has a link to a good guide and the basic set up of an Ubuntu based hosting a link would be great.

If you're using a 64-bit release of Ubuntu you need to install the 32-bit libraries for DreamDaemon to work.
Try "apt-get install ia32-libs"

I'm not aware of your experience with linux, but you did run "apt-get update" first, right?
It's also perhaps(?) possible that you're running the 32-bit version of Ubuntu already? What's the output of "cat /etc/lsb-release"?

Installing the 32bit OS of Ubuntu 12.04 and carrying out the sames steps as before provided successful results.
Thank you all for your help and advice, i would not have thought to use the 32bit version without your input.

dist. id= Ubuntu I had the fantest inkling and... Well... You started that with a lowercase L as opposed to an i. I wonder if you did that in the command line in the first place? :P

Yeah i had lol. I started browsing around since im trying to run the pager on ubuntu now through wine, however there are some problems.... I noticed someone put ia32-libs suggestion for someone else having a problem, with a lower case i. I thought...hey, wtf...
Apparently have a key file error through the pager on login attempts. I noticed the wine program is making a byond directory in my home folder, fairly certain it should be in the C:/ directory under wine...not sure whats going on there lol

Honestly give it up WINE is not a fan of BYOND anymore is used to work ok-ish a few years ago.
Best bet is to make a virtual machine.

It's not difficult what so ever, easier than a WINE install you will need a operating system I suggest installing something with low CPU and RAM usage like Win XP.
Ido believe there are USB. Editions of XP which might be perfect for a VM.

You then went and did an 'apt-get install ia32-libs' with the lowercase i in ia32 and lowercase l in libs, right? That should resolve your problem right there without the need for wine.

Its was resolved by installing the 32bit version of ubuntu, I said F it and waited the 2 hours for it to load and update itself, worked fine after that. I did type L in the package so it might work on a 64bit version but i had already installed 32bit by the time anyone noticed that.
