Okay so (before we start.. im using Davin Naruto as a Basis just to mess around with, get used to a source and then adapt (as i have already started)
but i have one slight problem. i have read this whole article http://www.byond.com/forum/?post=33582&hl=skin and i have done everything needed.. but there is one small problem.. my items are set out like
and the coding that the article says to use uses a different format. Can someone help me translate over? thanks | ||

The easy answer is it's completely wrong. I don't see where pokes at your ability; only where he tells you to learn the BYOND syntax.
It is foolish of you to come into something like this and not learn at least the basics of it. | |

If you don't understand how to define an object, you aren't going to move any further until you do. It's as simple as that.
You can't write a novel if you don't know the alphabet. Game design is exactly the same, you have to understand the syntax before you can write a system, and you have to understand numerous systems before you can write a game.
Reading is going to be your best bet. Don't come to the forums asking for help until you've made the effort to help yourself. Programming requires a lot of research and learning in a self-directed manner. If you ever want to get anywhere programming, you are going to need to learn to digest lots of information quickly.
