Man! After all these years (three or four maybe?) I've finally got a solid game idea with a clear purpose! So many times I've come up with some pretty cool things that were either to abstract or more based off of a feature or vague concept than an actual game. Most of the time I've been trying to come up with a game that didn't necessarily follow a storyline, but at the same time wasn't just "Get powers and kill people!".

I was hype when I really started to understand byond, and all I wanted was to start on a small project to gain some experience.

Anyone else have a hard time simply coming up with something viable?

That's what happens when you have a hobby that requires you to be creative. I was on a roll when I first started making games - I made 3 back to back then got bored with all of them and removed their hubs and haven't made a game since. Now instead of making games I just sit in this dark room starting projects, getting halfway through development and realizing the games suck, then scrap it and start all over.

Halfway? I'm impressed, I usually open a new document, name the game, think about the amount of work that needs to be done, hit the 'X' button.

Well I usually only start projects that I know will be easy to make so I don't run into that problem.

I'm a perfectionist now and so if I'm not 100% content with a project and the way it's going, I just scrap it. Something about me just won't let me release a crappy game.
