What is RP Unlimited?


Welcome to RP Unlimited, Where you Imagination take root into worlds of
Fantasy. This is a text based system that lets you design a setting, a world, as
you want it to display to the community of Byond. Using tools and your own
imagination this opens the door for everything from Freeform open role-playing
where anything goes to more set and complex table top gaming. Trying to open the
door for most users but having a system to let guest come into view your stories
before taking part in them. Trying to offer a more secure environment for hosts
and players to enjoy there story.


So what does RP Unlimited offer?


  • A hierarchy of administrative levels: This lets you as host set up
    who you want to run what.
  • Split Sections: Keeps the out of character and in character content
    separate to make it easier top focus.
  • Player Commands: Keeping spam down in character with giving special
    commands only to those playing on your server, like posting in character, use
    of tools like Dice, A Timer,  Voting and Playing Music.
  • Music Sharing: Use the Jukebox tool to bring sound to your world
    and share music in play list fashion.
  • GM Tools: This lets you make Dice Rolls, and other tool uses with
    out should the server. This can be used to help you set up the story with out
    the whole world knowing.
  • Player Commands: Keeping spam down in character with giving special
    commands only to those playing on your server, like posting in character, use
    of tools like Dice, A Timer,  Voting and Playing Music.
  • Multiple Characters: This lets you as a Player use more then one
    character with a multiple character assignment, each acting and able to be
    used like your default character.
  • File Sending and Picture Sharing: Designed to let you keep in touch
    with those on the server and keep them up to date, this also lets you send
    images to the whole server if sharing maps or those creations, or if needed a
    single image to another user to show stuff with out everyone seeing it.
  • Integrated Help Guide: Having trouble understanding the system this
    will help you learn the commands.
  • And much more...

+ World/Realm and Region system added, which in turn each region can have a timeoffset based on the IC global time, and individual weather features.
+ Server OOC Clock system added.
+ Autosave system and setting added. It autosaves the world every hour if left on.
+ IC Clock system added. (Allows for the Gregorian Calendar system, or a custom system.)
+ Event Coordinator system added that works in sync with the IC and OOC Clock systems.
+ Admin logs now have OOC time added.
+ Weather Machine system added (Weather Machine [Automatic] that changes with each IC day, Presets, Custom).
+ Weather Forecast system added that presets for the set amount of days and changes with each IC day to the next item on the Forecast. If the forecast week ends, it creates a new one automatically.
+ Weather Machine system works with the added preset climates.
+ Official change logs added!
* Cheats now have a custom option.
* Cheats were revamped code-wise to be a lot more efficient.
- Player time removed do to inconsistencies and inability to get it to work right.

So I have added Darth Chaos7 to the coding team, he is now working on future updates starting with 1.5 Beta. This should give some more ideas as we started transferring some of the more wide ranged enhancements we been working on to RPU so the hosts and story owners can use this in their story designs.

Hey everyone,

Good news!

We are working on RP Unlimited 2.0 now, to bring new features and better runtime to everyone. In short we are re-coding the whole whole thing, being Darth is a much better coder then me and cutting out a lot of the needless code with shiny new code. (Mostly a lot of the repeated code so most of you wouldn't notice this.)

Being how much people love change, I am going to release version 1.5.4B today being the last update for a while and added a few requests Darth over looked. This will also link to the custom section. Being that is for older versions and long story short we will be updating the current hub to be 2.0.

I will give more updates on this as we go, being already the character list will have a grouping function, and Darth got the sorting function for characters working. So no more messy character lists. Being how this is being worked we will be working out the kinks slowly for a public release soon.

Heyo Everyone,

So RPU Lite was officially released last Saturday on the RPU Custom hub, so I'm sorry that I haven't got around to saying so until now. With RPU Lite released, I'd like people to try it out at least and give any suggestions. Please check out the change log on the Help (Core) menu for a full list of what's new, and some need-to-know information of some things to consider with 2.0

Hey everyone,

Thought I would note, being we are still working on RPU. Being in truth, I haven't had much time out of the coding to do much. Mostly we have some lag being college and school is back in so a lot of the team is busy.

I thought I would use this point to note we are taking your input. Being today we are looking into the room system again and trying to get a better PC system up for future use. Wanting to make RP Unlimited better all around I hope the updates can get out before Christmas. Being it has been a long while since we had anything big, save for the weather system.

Hey Everyone,

I been working on stuff and looking to get some new updates in. But otherwise fixing the general look of the hub. Hopefully you like the new look as I have some new Icons and Banner up. I hope with makes the game more appealing to people looking through the hubs.

Hey Everyone,

With this being an early post for tomorrow. If you saw the April Fools Joke this year. We are sorry for who it offended. No, we are not so arrogant to think we have the best server ever and we are not bringing Zantelga back. This was the normal approach to this, being the factor of these terms is normally used to insult the server so we used it.

In apology we are releasing a demo version of Eternal Saga to give people an idea of possibly hosting it in the future. This is not able to be hosted publicly and more to get out the issues with resources and that. Hopefully this will give people an idea of what we are doing and take the time to play with all the stuff we added in. I will update this from time to time trying to fix bugs.

Keep in mind this is Alpha, we know there is bug and it is not complete in the slightest. It is more a demo for idea complied into a working version. Thanks for the support and everything.

Just updating that I have been working on the system, and hope to have more working points for the updates. If you would like to place comments on what you think of the new system. Please feel free to message me about it, hopefully I can get everything in order before a public beta.

O.k. an update for everyone following the ES/RPU updates.

Currently I have worked out a lot of bugs in the old set up. Well hopefully. If not well then I will still be working on them.

What the rest of the team is doing is as follows. Darth is still working on the 2.0 ES/RPU joint recode and hopefully it will be ready soon. This should get out all those spelling errors and other cosmetic problems you keep going on about.

Lloyd is working on the whisper system right now trying to get up a private whisper window for whisper conversations without having to click every time. This will also not disrupt RP being it will be apart on a dragable window more in messenger style. Thought for it getting into the next beta release is on hold as he is having computer problems and I have not got his end of this.

Finally what will be in the next update, I revamped the music system. It now have base for volume, repeat, and set so these setting will effect when you play to world. This also allowing plays to turn on the play to world setting on a personal level. So they will not be disrupted by music or pages.

Status have more to work with now then just a pretty name. AFK, Busy, and Sleeping will now not only block music from being played while there up. But the audio sounds from pages. This being you can stay on a server to get logs but not have people paging you and waking you up at 3 in the morning. Hopefully this helps some owners and hosts with there tasks.

Also added a new status, looking for RP. This will page you when people post in RP. Allowing you to look away for a while and play a game while you wait for role-playing to start. This also will help you know when on low member or 'dead' servers when the group gets on to RP. This should make it easier to keep track of everything.

Finally, I am trying to get the bugs out of the room system now. This will allow you to make sectioned off are areas to the RP. These hopefully will have passwords and so on. Though this is still in the works. This should allow players to have more control over where they RP and clean up the mess of posts on larger servers. Note Admins will have the admin window to see all post still. So don't think this will let you break rules.

So I should have another beta for players to look at soon. I will release it once I get everything running. Otherwise we might be set back as talks about completely rebuilding the forum for ES is up. This sadly will kill backwards compatibility will the older version forum but should integrate the forum to work with your administration levels and hopefully 90% of the forum errors. I been helping Lloyd work out the bugs in the old forum code for a long time now, it probably finally time we just restart from the beginning with a better coded set up.

O.k. so good new and bad news...

First the good news, everything is almost set for a 0.6 alpha test and I have set for public hosting this time. Hopefully this means that you will get to show off everything with your ideas soon enough.

Bad News, After last checks the hosting size was about a good 280 MB for the zip. This is not allowing distribution to be easy. All the art, music, and code going into this is making it a lot larger then what I thought. This isn't a big thing except for the factor of well. Distribution. Being Byond only give me a total of 20MB and the other sites are about the same. Being this I am thinking of releasing this as a torrent download for everyone. If you would support that.

Otherwise I will input directions for player level as well so your not downloading a ton of resources and that. This should work on other levels but hopefully this works out. I will release something probably today before the room system is complete for early lookers. Then when room and map is worked out, and official beta thing.

(P.S. Will try and fix the file size... so messing with that.)

Well, Hawk old friend, I'd like to congratulate you. Since it's inception, RPU has remained on the front page and is always chock full of people who've come to share their stories and build new ones with others. Keep up the great work, and hopefully there will come a point where we both have free time and I have the opportunity to play a part in another grand adventure with you.

Oh I plan on it, Being coding right now. But working with the Team to bring a new horizon to another story that will shape the age. This time with less god-modding rumors.

Well testing a new version of RPU, we have the room system, map system, and most the other stuff working. This should work out, so stop on by the 1.6 server and give us your input.

Alrighty, guys and gals. I've recieved a few reports, figured I'd put this out there. I am aware of the Forum glitch, by updating to Byond 499. We're currently looking into it to try and fix it. For now, simply try to remember that clicking post multiple times, or edit multiple times, will only spam the forum. Thanks guys and gals.
