It appears that the way Dream Daemon on linux works currently is that it only reads the hostban.txt when the server is initially started. This is fine except in cases where you have a server that is almost never rebooted, but you want to add/remove a user to/from the hostban.

Would it be possible to add a command line option to have it re-read the hostban.txt.

I know that Dream Daemon can already read a few different kill signals, so would it be possible to have one of them tell it to re-read the hostban.txt?
Haven't heard anything back on this. Any chance of it getting implemented in a future release?
We do want to make hostban access available to Linux, even if it's just a matter of sending it a signal to reload the file or having it reload the file at various intervals. It hasn't been entirely clear which option would be best so we're still figuring out what to do for this.
A mixture of both? A reasonable automatic reload time with the option of sending a signal to force the reload would be awesome.
I agree.

Maybe have it re-read the file every half hour or hour, but also have the option to force the reload.

Thanks for your reply Lummox.
