Isometric Engine

by F0lak
A small demo of a few things BYOND Isometrics are capable of.
ID:99080

Isometric Engine currently features elevation, jumping around, arrows you can shoot, map rotation, and some boulders you can roll down some mountains to destroy trees.

Latest Build (1.2)
Set tick_lag back to default and removed the movement delay on players in order to address what some considered bad performance.

Controls
Shoot Arrow - Tab
Jump - Space
Rotate Camera - Z & X
Click boulders when beside and on the same level as them to watch them roll

Please e-mail all bugs to [email protected], or to my pager. Thank you!
Please oh dear GOD make the movement faster and less annoying!!!

I see where you're coming from with it being slow. Elaborate on 'annoying'.
The slowness is the 'annoying'. Also, the client eye changes are a bit choppy when jumping. No complaints other than that.

The client eye changes happen with the pixel_z changes. I'll increase the movement speed for the next update, though.
As many of you know, I'm using this engine in a project. I've since been doing some work on the engine itself, so I'll upload the changes and fixes I've done on the engine as soon as they're tuned up and ready to go.

I haven't released the patch changing the mvoement speed yet. I'll page you when I do and you can tell me if it's still too slow.
I like this! I did notice a few glitches. When you rise to a higher level of altitude, the screen zooms out a little bit. The effect amplifies each time you rise to as higher point.

Yeah, it would be sort of cool to have a tick_lag lower than 1.0 : D

I'm impressed with the engine overall. I tried jumping on a rock and it slid me off because it was round. Shapes have owned me!
Personally...you should release at least a dumbed-down version of this. Just my opinion...but yeah.
good tutorial
