Made for the BYOND 2014 Game Jam.
There should be an option to go back to the action selection screen once you select the attack option, either due to no enemies being within range or wanting to use an ability. As it is now, my turn automatically ends for said unit if I select attack and decide to not go through with it.

It's mostly a pet peeve, but every key seems to play a sound. This should only happen when relevant keys are pressed.

Lastly, I was fighting one of the units during the first mission ( tutorial? ) and the enemy moved to the back right corner, spamming attack. I guess it was hoping I'd move within the line of fire? Anyway, it kept moving around and attacking in the rows I wasn't in. I don't know if that's intended behavior, but it was definitely weird.
Another thing, actually. I dislike being forced to move my units. It seems I can't just hold up and let the enemy come to me, I always have to move. Even if the enemy is next to me, movement is required to move on to the action phase. Selecting the same tile your selected unit is on should bring up the action selection screen.
Quite fun. I played through, twice actually, and look forward to potential multiplayer ;)

I did get a bug a couple times when fighting the Raptors where I somehow got stuck on the far right column of tiles and couldn't leave them.

The Pelican is soooo sloooowww... Drives me nuts, but healing is nice :)

Impressive work, especially in 48 hours.

I usually don't like "dual mechanic" games or whatever they are called, but this one was fun. Looking forward to the harder difficulty...

That would be awesome, although I think it would require a lot of character tweaking to get the balance right. AI gives you the luxury of managing the difficulty yourself (as a developer), whereas a human opponent will exploit any weakness they can find. The raven would be useless!
Just played the update... the enemy raven can move and shoot while the X attack is charging up! Other than that however the AI seems a lot better
This game has an amazing concept that combines fighting with strategy and yet it feels like an RPG. It's a very strange sort of mixed genre, but it works, and the fact that it was more or less done in 2 days just makes it outstanding!

However, there is a game breaking bug where an avian cannot avoid another one in its path, so it gets stuck, and the arrow stays there forever. If the moving avian is one of mine, I can cancel the movement and lose that unit's move, but if it's the enemy moving, there is nothing I can do, and the game cannot continue.
Oh my god, the raptor level in the new update is so hard xD

Could you explain this a little more in detail, or try and reproduce it + screenshot? I think I have an idea of what you're talking about, but I'm not sure.

I think he means when moving your spaceship, if you hit a ship you can cancel your move to end your turn; however if the enemy tries to move and runs into another ship during it's path it ends up in an infinite loop and you have to close the game.

Yeah, its happened to me a couple of times before too.

The NPC do it not us lol
Yes I experienced it as well I think, an opponent basically tried to move through his ally. It was on that map with the gamma tiles. One enemy ship was all the way at the bottom of the screen, and then another moved south-west and got stuck on the tile just east of it. The second ship continued to make the moving noise as it endlessly walk()ed into the void. :)
I see what the problem is now. I'm able to move in a way that I shouldn't be allowed to. It only seems to be happening when on a gamma boost. I'm sure this also applies to the enemies.

This is pretty much what happens with the bug when the npc tries to move but you are in the way, seems to only happen in the raven level on gamma blocks it seems.
Lots tougher with the new AI :)

I was a Raven fighting a Raptor, and I managed to get knocked off the back of the board so I was offscreen. Not sure exactly what happened... I couldn't use the arrows to get back on, but I used his 'x' move to go forward, which brought me back on the board, and stayed there.
