It's recommended that you play Epoch in single player before going into multi-player, to get a feel for the game. The tutorial level is also less designed for multi-player than it is for a single player experience.
The sequel to Epic, and the last in the Epic trilogy, Epoch is a hard core RPG done in a metroidvania style that plays like a marriage between The Legend of Zelda, Dark Souls, and the original Epic.
Epoch is very carefully crafted, with a mysterious story that continues to unravel itself even after you've completed the game once. Every inch of the world is considered and filled with recursive amounts of hidden content. The game is designed to be played more than once, with each experience being equally, if not more rewarding.
If you get stuck, the game is also multi-player. Throw up a server and grab your friends as you dominate the unforgiving dungeons of Epoch.

This sounds glorious, but I'd like to see some gameplay or something before putting money into it.

The demo is very outdated and doesn't nearly reflect the level of quality the current build has, so if you even slightly like what you see there I'm sure there are plenty of delightful surprises in the much more polished and much more content-packed current build :)

A much more polished demo is now available:

Thanks for the support! If you run into any issues at all don't hesitate to send me a message and I'll resolve them as quickly as possible.
Remember: BYOND 1291 is not a functional version of the software, and will break the game's collision detection. Make sure you use 1290 or any patches to 1291+(which don't exist yet at the time of this post) before you play :) |
Bought the game yesterday. Good stuff so far!
I found that the jumping controls were sometimes a little unpredictable, and that the movement slowdown when you're in the first town didn't feel great. Initially I thought I was under some heavy lag. Shielding also feels rough on the edges and a little too unforgiving at times if you're a pixel or two off. Will play more today. |

I can widen the angles shielding allows. Jumping controls are definitely something that need a little work, particularly if you are running down a thin hallway and want to jump north but you're holding in a diagonal direction.
The movement slowdown in The Tower is just BYOND shitting itself for rendering a lot of tiles. I'm pretty sure it doesn't occur if you host the world in DD. On that note, multi-player is free for other people to play with you now that you own the game. So don't hesitate to throw up a server for you and your friends if you get stuck somewhere :) |
If only there was a alternative method to buy other than paypal >.< I have problems with it.
